We live in a small town, and there is a pretty good chance that we might run into you at the grocery store, a concert, or other community event. We tend to err on the side of caution when seeing our clients in public in order to preserve confidentiality, so we will typically not acknowledge you until you acknowledge us.

If I spot you in line at the grocery store, what should I do?

You only have to tell us what you feel comfortable telling us. We will always work at a pace that is comfortable to you. The more open and honest you can be in therapy, the better we are able to help you.

Do I have to tell you everything?

We work primarily with adult clients of all ages, including men and women… as well as couples who are married, partnered, or premarital.

With whom do you work?

When we work with a couple, the “relationship” is our client. We make every effort to support both partners equally through the process. Our goal is to help the “relationship” heal to the benefit of both partners.

Do you take sides?

Yes, sometimes couples fight in front of us; in fact, at times we encourage it. It helps us see how clients are with one another when they are not their best selves; this helps to inform the couples work that we do and allows us to provide better guidance.

Do couples fight in front of you?

We do offer phone or video sessions if a client is unable to attend a session in person because of distance or scheduling difficulties. However, we prefer to work with clients face to face, because that helps us be better attuned and really see you while we are working together.

Do you offer phone or video sessions?

Please visit our contact page, call (805) 556-5532 or email at  info@peaceandpurposetherapy.com to schedule a complimentary 15-minute consultation.

How do I set up an initial appointment?

We accept check, cash, or credit cards, including HSA or FSA cards.

We do not bill insurance directly as we are an out-of-network provider. However, you may be eligible for reimbursement through your insurance company by submitting a superbill, which we can provide upon request. We recommend calling your your insurer for details about out-of-network coverage and reimbursement.

A superbill is a detailed statement from your out-of-network therapist or healthcare provider. It acts as a complete receipt for your visit, listing the services you received and any diagnoses. You can use this document to submit a claim to your insurance company for potential reimbursement of the costs you've paid out-of-pocket.
